Free 1 Hour Consultation

Your 1 hour consultation allows you to discuss your desires for prenatal and birth care as well as learn more about Kellie Moeller and the services provided. You will receive a consult packet which includes safety statistics for home birth, prenatal information, diet sheet, and forms for enrollment with HomeBirth Experience, Inc.

Comprehensive Prenatal Care

After your 1 hour consultation, we'll schedule your initial 3 hour visit. This 3 hour visit includes detailed medical and social histories as well as a complete physical including labs as needed. We will discuss diet and exercise. You will bring your diet sheet and the other forms found in the consult packet. Additional prenatal visits will be scheduled for 1 hour. This allows time to complete a diet review, to discuss any pregnancy discomforts you may be experiencing, as well as emotional and psychological adjustments to the pregnancy. At 36 weeks, we will schedule your prenatal visit to be at your home.

Complete Birth Care

When you go into labor, you'll notify Kellie. The 2 of you will decide upon a mutually agreeable time for Kellie to arrive at your home. She will bring birth supplies, oxygen and resuscitation equipment, as well as IV supplies and medications for hemorrhage in the event of emergencies. Kellie will monitor the baby's heart rate intermittently and monitor your well-being. She will provide labor support as needed.(Sometimes you are doing so well that all that is needed from Kellie are a few words of encouragement.)

When you're close to birthing your baby, Kellie will call a birth assistant (a registered nurse with labor and delivery experience) allowing for additional medical expertise if necessary. After the baby has finished breastfeeding, Kellie will do a thorough physical exam on the baby including weight and length. You and the baby will then be treated to an herbal bath. Kellie and the birth assistant will remain at your home for a period of 4-5 hours following the birth.

Postpartum Care

Kellie will call for updates on the well-being of you and your newborn throughout the 1st week after the birth your new baby. She is available to you by phone 24/7 for any concerns or questions.

Between 24-48 hours, she will come back to your home for exams on both you and the baby. We will schedule additional postpartum appointments at 1 week, 3 weeks, and 6 weeks where again both Mom and Baby will be examined. We can discuss plans for family planning during this time.

Newborn Care

Newborn care includes thorough exams at birth and each of the postpartum visits. Routine newborn procedures such as Vitamin K injection, antibiotic eye prophylaxis, and newborn screening labs are available as desired.

All care is done in a gentle and loving manner with the parents present to assist in comforting the newborn as needed.

Doula Service Referral

Doula services are an excellent adjunct to midwifery care. Women pregnant for the first time, especially, are encouraged to look into this excellent service.

HomeBirth Experience can recommend highly experienced and caring doula's in the area.

Nutritional Guidance

The number 1 thing you can do to help insure a healthy pregnancy and birth is to eat a high quality, nutrient dense diet. Kellie will ask you to bring a diet sheet to your initial visit and again periodically throughout the pregnancy. The 2 of you will review the diet and Kellie may make suggestions to "tweak" your meals for the optimal health of your baby and to maintain the health of your pregnancy.

Kellie can also make suggestions for exercise throughout your pregnancy.
